Talk it Through Therapies

Get the therapy you deserve.

👋 Welcome—I'm So Glad You're Here!

I'm Harriet, an accredited CBT and EMDR therapist with over 10 years' experience supporting children, adolescents, families, and adults across a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.

You’ve landed here because you're exploring whether therapy—and working with me—is the right next step for you. So let me introduce myself a little more.

After spending many years in mental health services, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), the private sector and charitable organisations, I founded Talk it Through Therapies to offer a more accessible, personalised form of care. Today, I work exclusively in online private practice, where flexibility, comfort, and consistency are central to the support I provide.

My approach is grounded in compassion, clinical expertise, and a deep belief in your capacity for growth and healing.

A human approach

How did I get here?

My journey into offering therapy began with a Masters in Counselling from the University of Nottingham, which I completed in 2014. Alongside my studies—and for the five years following—I worked with children, young people, and their families through voluntary organisations including Childline, Kooth and Visyon, before working as a school counsellor. These experiences deepened my understanding of emotional wellbeing across different ages and settings.

In 2020, I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at the University of Manchester, and in 2022, I finished my Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) training while working within a local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). I then moved into the private mental healthcare sector, supporting both young people and adults, before establishing my own practice.

I’m an Accredited Practitioner with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and EMDR UK. I actively maintain my accreditation through regular supervision, ongoing training, and continual professional development—ensuring I provide therapy that is ethical, up-to-date, and effective.

I believe you are the expert on your own life—and my role is to help you deepen that understanding and create meaningful change. I offer a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can talk freely and feel heard. I value collaboration—therapy works best when we build a trusting relationship rooted in mutual respect and curiosity. Together, we’ll explore the factors contributing to your difficulties and work toward lasting, empowering change.

And outside the therapy room? You’ll often find me walking with my lovely Border Collie, Marnie 🐾 (she’s always happy to make a guest appearance in sessions if you’d like!), lifting weights at the gym, or trying out my latest Pinterest-inspired baking creation.
